The Funkstown Boy Scout Troop 23 is having a Christmas Quarter Auction, just in time to pick up gifts for someone special this Christmas and for just a quarter. It will be held at the Funkstown Legion on November 6th Doors open at 1:00 and the auction from 2:00 to 5:00. There will also be a bake sale and the legion will have food. You can get tickets from any Funkstown Boy Scout or at the door for just $5.00 a seat with your first paddle. There are more and bigger items than last auction. Hope to see you there.

The Mayor & Council meeting scheduled for tomorrow, October 10th will be held on Monday, October 24th at 7:00 pm at Town Hall, 30 East Baltimore Street.
Fire prevention week
The Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company will be celebrating Fire Prevention Week on October 8, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with an open house/public safety day. The fire department will close South West Side Avenue at the intersection of Baltimore Street and Maple Street ( directly in front of the fire station). Closing the street will make it safer for the children and families in attendance.
Street closure will start about 9:00 a.m. to allow time to set up equipment and will re-open approximately 4:00 p.m.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
New business in town.
Please check out the NEW Sun Gallery of Fine Art. The grand opening is Saturday the 17th from 10:00am to 5:00pm with the official ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:00 noon. The location of the new Gallery is 21 East Baltimore Street. Some of you may remember this as the Cranberry Cottage building.

St Paul’s Church Remembrance Day Service
St Paul’s Lutheran Church is having a 9/11 Remembrance Day Service next Sunday, along with special opening comments, patriotic songs and appropriate prayers. We have invited Funkstown Fire Co. and EMT, CRS and Washington Co. Sheriffs Dept. so we may give thanks for their hard work. We would like to invite the community for this special day.

Due to vacations, the August Mayor and Council meeting has been cancelled. The next meeting will be held on September 12, 2016.
