The show is open to anyone with a car or truck and would like to show it off and support scouting in Funkstown. The cost for entry is just a $5.00 donation that will go to help the Boy Scouts In Funkstown. The judging will be done by the general public that comes out to view the cars and trucks. The winner will get the “Best of Show” trophy and a cash prize that is to be determined. The show will run from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. This is a great chance to get in on the ground floor of a new event. Also there will be plenty to do while you are waiting to hear just who the winner is while you are eating the great food from the Fire Company, browsing the craft venders, watching the kids games or checking out the Civil War re-enactors. With all of the activity, excitement and good deeds you will sleep great after the fireworks show so it is really a day that is good for your health, not to say anything about the points that you will get for taking your best girl or guy out for a day of fun. WHY:         Year round, Columbia Gas is dedicated to giving back to the communities where we work and live. Columbia Gas is also committed to keeping the families who live in those communities safe. The holiday season reminds us all of family and staying warm during the colder weather months. As we turn on those natural gas appliances to cook holiday food or to stay warm, it is important that they vent properly.  Carbon monoxide is an odorless, tasteless, non-corrosive gas that can be a by-product of the combustion of ordinary fuels. Carbon monoxide can become very poisonous if it is not vented properly and if allowed to accumulate without sufficient oxygen. The combination carbon monoxide and smoke detectors will also alarm to warn of the presence of smoke in your home. For more information on Carbon Monoxide safety, including what to do if carbon monoxide is in your home and steps to take if you believe carbon monoxide has accumulated, please visit www.ColumbiaGasMD.com/carbon-monoxide.

NiSource Foundation Grant
As one of the seven energy distribution companies of NiSource, Inc., Columbia Gas of Maryland’s $5,000 contribution to Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company to support the department and provide for the purchase of carbon monoxide detectors is thanks to the NiSource Charitable Foundation, which was established to provide funding to non-profit organizations making a difference in the communities where NiSource companies operate or provide service. The Foundation looks to enhance community strengths, address critical needs and build resources for the future by extending financial and human resources of those organizations that carry out these works.
